He managed to top entrance exams to the country's best academic institutes, but if Delhi Police are to be believed, he wasn't able to win over his wife.
Pushpam Kumar Sinha (34), a PHD scholar from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi was living a lonely life.

Sinha allegedly tried to molest a 19-year-old girl from Manipur and when she resisted his advances, allegedlymurderedher.

HT had reported that Sinha's wife left him soon after their wedding four years ago.

"He told us that his wife hated the fact that he kept studying and was staying away from her," said a senior police officer on the condition of anonymity, as he is not authorised to speak to the media.

According to police, during interrogation Sinha told them he felt incapable of having a normal married and sexual life.

"According to Sinha, his wife wanted him to find a good job with a multinational company.
But all he wanted was to continue with his study and then teach," added the officer.

According to psychiatrists, superior intelligence does not equal emotional health.

"Many murderers are brilliant men," said Dr. Rajat Mitra, Director Swanchetan Society for Mental Health.

"Many with high intellectual levels have poor adaptability to their environment. They take rejection too personally which escalates to anger. However their actions are premeditated and they have no feelings of guilt or remorse later."

SINHA IN COURT Delhi police told a city court on Tuesday that Sinha was a "psychopath" and "pervert.", The court remanded Sinha to 14 days of judicial custody till November 10 after he was produced before it on conclusion of his custodial interrogation.
