Swanchetan has been training different
branches of the criminal justice system on victim and offender behavior. At the
request of Delhi Commission for Women and Police Headquarters, Swanchetan did
twelve intensive workshops this year for Delhi Police personnel who have to
investigate sexual assault cases and other cases of violence against children
and women. The workshop included teaching them how to interview and probe
sensitively and the technical questions that are necessary to be asked in a
scientific and humane investigative strategy.
This has resulted in greater sensitivity towards the victims by the
investigating officers.
Swanchetan has also taken training in gender sensitization strategies for
police personnel and has so far taken nearly sixty five lectures and workshops
on different areas of policing.
Internationally Swanchetan has trained the following departments in the year
2004-05:
Police personnel at Swedish Police Academy Vaxjo, Sweden, on
psychological
techniques of interviewing victims.
Law enforcement officers in Uzbekistan on rehabilitation techniques for
trafficked
victims at the invitation of the United States Embassy.
Mental health professionals in England, Germany on dealing with torture
and abuse
victims.
Para professionals in Sri Lanka and Indonesia on dealing with the mental
health issues
of Tsunami victims.
